Hidden down an alley in Soho, is probably London’s tiniest and quirkiest gay bar. And why do you ask? How many bars have you been to with Barbie and Ken dolls stuck to the ceiling? Or urinals for speakers, or garden gnomes for stools? Ok then, how about padded walls, disco balls and Cowboys and Indians wallpaper? Too good to be true, a bar after my own heart.
This place can get really busy on a Friday night and the drinks aren’t cheap. But if you’re up for dancing to 80s music followed by a round of Frank Sinatra, Liza Minelli and Barbara Streisand, you may possibly be ready for Friendly Society.
If you’re lucky you can get a seat in what I like to call the ‘Caravan Room’…you’ve got to see it to believe it. Best seat in the joint.
Great bar, great vibe, great music. Best place to party on a Friday night.
