Hidden on the back streets of Chancery Lane in Holborn amongst the skyscrapers is Volupte.  A world of  delight and a place to escape in this wonderful little cabaret bar.

Grab a cocktail (2 for 1 from 5-8pm) in the romantic dimly lit bar or head downstairs to a fabulous flapper fantasy land for dinner and entertainment that will transport you to the 1920s at the height of vaudeville. Capatilizing on London’s rejuvenated burlesque scene, Volupte hosts a variety of nights like Burlesque and Blues, Thurs-Gay or dancing till the wee hours at the infamous Black Cotton Club night.

I discovered Volupte the year it opened in 2007, and attended its first New Years party. It was the first true adult (mature — not pornographic) New Years I’ve ever had with champagne, cocktails, burlesque, a bit of can-can and a really nice crowd with a naughty edge – met a few swingers who seemed to be looking for new recruits. Unfortunately the next New Years, word had gotten out. My civilized New Years had been replaced by an event packed with over indulged kids looking for the latest trend.

There is no official dress code but you’ll never go wrong with dapper and flapper. My next adventure at Volupte  will be the  Saturday Afternoon Tease featuring a bit of cake along with a striptease.

Volupte, 9 Norwich St London EC4A 1EJ (Holborn)
