Set in Regents Park in June, the annual Taste of London brings four days of summer eating, drinking and entertainment. Forty of the city’s best restaurants dish up their finest in an alfresco gourmet feast with special menus of starter sized dishes for the occasion, including signature dishes created by the Chefs.
A hugely popular event, Taste of London usually sells out. Buy your ticket online in advance and hope for a sunny day because with food, cocktails and good company, it’s the best Sunday afternoon in June.
Crowns are the official dining currency at Taste of London. With £1 = 2 Crowns, you can grab a dish for around 8 Crowns (£4 – £5). Servings are tapas sized which allows the Chefs to display their skills and ingredients, but small enough to let you try more than a few dishes. Or, if you work up a thirst, head to one of the many bars as you can grab a Pimms or a signature cocktail with your Crowns to wash all it down.
Be prepared for crowds and some aggressive foodies as this place is a feeding frenzy. I’d recommend going through the list of restaurants and their menus before you even get there to plan your attack. For me £40 worth of extra Crowns proved to be way too much. My one tip: as it falls on the same weekend as Ascot, going hungover the next day, not a good idea.
