In Soho sits a little pub that you might not really notice except for the unusual name ‘Garlic and Shots’. But let me tell you, once you step inside you won’t forget it. If you want to unleash your inner heavy metal, head bang away. Although they do play a lot of metal and the downstairs bar is a strange dungeon of sorts, the main attraction for me was the garlic. And be warned. If you order a pint of garlic beer, it really is a garlic beer. Its not just flavoured, it has garlic shavings in it. For me, I went a little more conservative and ordered a garlic shot. With 101 flavoured garlic shots on offer like a Bloodshot (vodka, garlic, tomato, chili and spices), I opted for the plain garlic shot. Tip: do not sniff it before you drink it. It really was one of the most foul things I’ve ever tasted. Although I couldn’t drink the whole thing, it was definately an experience. But don’t meet up with anyone you’d like to impress for the next 12 hours as you’ll still be burping garlic…seriously.
