I have been a very lucky lady in the fact that I’ve made it to Wimbledon Tennis 3 times. The first was through a corporate event in which I had a champagne breakfast, 3 course lunch, centre court tickets followed by tea in the Club House. Oh how posh of me.
The second time, I was given tickets by a good friend and decided to do it the very English way. I drank Pimms, I ate my very first fish and chips (even though I’d lived in London for 5 years) and sampled my first ever strawberries and cream. Oh how Wimbledon Dahhhlings. And how can you complain about seeing the Venus sisters playing doubles on 1st Court!
The third time I went, I did it the old fashioned way, joining the proverbial English queue in the morning to get grounds tickets. I have to say, it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be as I basked in the sun for a few hours and worked on my tan. Unfortunately a few hours in the sun plus a bottle of champagne does not equal a good experience while trying to open it on Henman Hill. I still apologize to everyone I sprayed one whole bottle of Pink Champagne with.
Overall, the three times at Wimbledon Tennis, three completely different experiences but all fantastic and shockingly enough….rain free.
