Fifteen restaurant was founded by Jamie Oliver in 2002  as part of Jamie’s Kitchen, a five-part British documentary TV series that follows Jamie Oliver as he attempts to train a group of fifteen disadvantaged youth, who will ( if they complete the course) be offered jobs at Oliver’s new restaurant. Of the Fifteen, 5 graduated and went on to work  in some of London’s best restaurants. Carrying on the vision even today, Fifteen recruits unemployed and under qualified young people each year to become qualified chefs through a unique Apprentice Programme.

With such a great concept and a fantastic reputation, Fifteen is one of the places you have to visit in London – and do it the right way. Which of course is the restaurant downstairs (the Trattoria upstairs is a la carte) and the 6 course tasting menu. And don’t cheap out, get the wine tasting menu to go with it. Sure this costs a lot (£112  when I went), but you’re most likely only going to do this once in your life. All I have to say is do it with some fabulous friends who don’t mind spending the cash, be adventurous and try all of the courses while sipping your wine chosen specifically for that dish.  Can I say, heaven in 6 courses.
