Tower Bridge is one of the most iconic symbols of London if not the most beautiful. Built in 1886, it took 8 years, 5 major contractors and the relentless labour of 432 construction workers to build Tower Bridge a combined bascule and suspension bridge.

Tower Bridge is sometimes mistaken for London Bridge, the next bridge upstream. The biggest error was made in 1968 by Robert McCulloch, who  purchased ‘the London Bridge’ from England which he believed he was in fact buying Tower Bridge. Not realizing that he was actually buying the less grand version, it is now sitting on a lake in Arizona.  Fast forward 40 years later, Fergi formerly of the Black Eyed Peas releases her song ‘London Bridge’ and although it’s a shockingly bad song and even worse video….she also shows shots of Tower Bridge. Sorry Americans, foiled again.
